A custom photography website that brings together fine art, travel stories, print collections, and opportunities to connect.
For professional photographer William Rainey, I created a WordPress website that gives his photography and the stories behind it a shared home. This photography website design project remains one of my favorite client projects, both for its beautiful subject matter and for the extensive design, content, and marketing work that went into it.
The goal was to make a substantial collection of work inviting to explore, while helping visitors find prints, follow William’s adventures, and get in touch. Using the Avada theme, I brought the site’s pages, posts, photography features, and promotional content together in a consistent design.

Website design that lets the photography lead
William’s landscape, wildlife, and travel photography sets the tone for the website. Large images, a restrained visual style, and clearly organized sections give visitors space to appreciate his work. Featured prints and individual photo pages provide different ways to explore, from a quick first impression to a closer look at a particular image.
The collection directory organizes subjects and destinations into an easy-to-browse visual overview. Visitors can follow their interests through Arkansas landscapes, Oklahoma photography, the Buffalo River, the Ouachita Mountains, wildlife, national parks, and other collections. Those on-site introductions connect with William’s existing external galleries.
Bringing years of photographs and stories together
A major part of this project was the content work. I handled the page and post setup, layouts, and formatting throughout the website, working with William’s photography and supplied material. I also brought selected posts over from his previous Blogger site, giving older stories a place alongside newer adventures and photography features.
The site brings together travel articles, individual photo presentations, artist information, print details, and professional highlights. Features about his Southern Living magazine cover and photography displayed at the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City give visitors additional context for his work. Organizing that material helps prospective collectors and clients learn about the photographer behind the images.
Connecting beautiful images with opportunities to buy
I designed the shop presentation and featured print pages on William’s website, helping visitors move from discovering a photograph to exploring purchase options. The site includes a Fine Art America shopping display, product highlights, and links to prints available through his SmugMug storefront.
Print information and frequently asked questions help visitors understand the available artwork and encourage inquiries about their needs. For photographers and artists who already use an outside print service, this project shows how a custom website can bring those offerings into a broader presentation of their work.
My work covered the design, content, and integrations on williamraineyphotography.com. The linked external galleries, storefronts, product pages, and checkout systems were outside my design scope.
SEO, Facebook marketing, and ways to stay connected
My involvement also included search engine optimization and Facebook social media marketing. The website gives those promotional efforts useful destinations: an individual photograph, a travel story, a featured print, or a free desktop background can each be shared with an interested audience.
Newsletter signup areas give visitors a way to follow new photographs and adventures, while contact forms and inquiry links make the next step easy to find. Together, these features support the ongoing relationship between a creative business and the people who enjoy its work.
Custom desktop wallpapers that keep the artwork close
I created custom desktop picture freebies using William’s photography, giving visitors a way to enjoy his work on their own screens. The freebie page also provides paths to explore his collections, view print options, and subscribe to his newsletter.
For a photographer or artist, a thoughtfully presented free download can introduce people to their style and give them a reason to return. It is a useful addition to a website’s larger mix of storytelling, promotion, and audience building.
A website with room for the next adventure
Built with WordPress and Avada, the website provides an established structure for adding new photo features, publishing stories, highlighting prints, and updating information. New content can follow the existing layouts, helping the site maintain a consistent presentation as William’s body of work grows.
That flexibility matters for creative businesses. A website should be able to develop alongside new collections, exhibitions, services, and opportunities. I also offer ongoing help with website content, updates, and promotional graphics for clients who would like support after their site is built.
