Duckling Publishing’s imaginative books called for a website with personality, clear navigation and practical features for readers, parents and teachers. I redesigned the company’s WordPress website, bringing its colorful book artwork into a cohesive online experience that connects author introductions, educational resources and ecommerce.

Using the Porto theme and WPBakery Page Builder, I designed the website’s content pages and customized their layouts to reflect Duckling Publishing’s playful identity. Illustrated banners, coordinated colors and welcoming typography carry the books’ character throughout the site.
The design includes subtle animation, with fade-in and reveal effects that add movement to selected content. Slider Revolution supports the homepage’s animated banner presentation.
I created custom graphics for the dropdown menu, giving visitors a visual introduction to the different book collections. These illustrated panels bring the publisher’s artwork into the navigation and create recognizable routes to its books.
I also created custom social-sharing graphics for use with Yoast SEO, helping website links display a consistent branded image when shared on social media.
My page-design work included the About page, author directory and individual author profiles, teacher-resource pages, contact page and promotional pages.
The teacher-resource layouts organize book information, expandable sections, quick links and downloadable notes for classroom or home use.
I also set up and designed the main blog page, creating a coordinated layout for the publisher’s news, announcements and updates. My contribution focused on the blog’s presentation and setup; individual blog posts were provided by the client.
I incorporated contact and contest forms using Contact Form 7, giving visitors convenient ways to ask questions and participate in promotions. A Mailchimp newsletter signup helps readers stay connected with the publisher and receive news about books, special offers and events.
I completed on-page search engine optimization using Yoast SEO and installed and integrated the Ecwid ecommerce plugin into the WordPress website, connecting the publisher’s content with online shopping functionality.
My role covered website design, theme customization, custom web graphics, blog page setup, forms, SEO and ecommerce integration. Product entry and the design of individual product pages were outside my scope.
Looking for a website that combines creative design with practical business features? I design WordPress websites for authors, publishers and small businesses, with thoughtful layouts and custom graphics that reflect your brand.
