Project Overview

As Creative Director and Graphic Designer for Torah Sisters Magazine, Issue 27 (Winter 2025), I led the visual direction and editorial design of a multi-page publication created for a faith-based audience of women who love Yeshua. This project involved transforming a wide range of contributor content into a cohesive, engaging, and easy-to-navigate publication that balances inspiration, education, and practical lifestyle content.

This issue was designed not just as a collection of articles, but as a structured reader experience—guiding the audience through seasonal themes, spiritual encouragement, homemaking insights, recipes, and community-driven content in a way that feels both intentional and approachable.

My Role

Creative Director & Graphic Designer

  • Directed the overall visual identity and layout system for the publication
  • Organized and structured multi-author content into a clear editorial flow
  • Designed all page layouts including feature articles, recipes, calendars, and promotional pages
  • Maintained brand consistency across all sections of the magazine
  • Developed typography systems and visual hierarchy for readability and engagement
  • Prepared files for print-ready production

Design Approach

This publication required a balance between visual storytelling and functional content organization. Each section was intentionally designed to support clarity, flow, and reader engagement while maintaining a warm and inviting tone aligned with the audience.

Key design considerations included:

  • Creating a clear information hierarchy to guide readers through long-form content
  • Designing consistent layout systems across multiple content types
  • Supporting readability through typography, spacing, and structure
  • Blending editorial storytelling with practical usability (recipes, calendars, resources)
  • Ensuring visual consistency across all pages while allowing flexibility for different content formats

Key Strengths Demonstrated

This project reflects a broader range of capabilities beyond magazine design, including:

  • Creative Direction for multi-page publications
  • Editorial Design and layout systems
  • Content organization and information hierarchy
  • Visual storytelling and brand consistency
  • Reader experience and UX-informed design thinking
  • Multi-contributor content integration
  • Print design and production-ready layouts
  • Marketing and promotional content design

Results & Value

The final publication delivers a cohesive and engaging reader experience that supports both the brand’s mission and the audience’s needs. By organizing complex content into a structured and visually consistent format, the magazine becomes easier to navigate, more enjoyable to read, and more effective in communicating its message.

This type of design approach helps organizations present their content with clarity, professionalism, and purpose—whether in print or digital formats.

Future Application of This Work

While this project is rooted in editorial publication design, the same principles apply to a wide range of modern design needs, including:

  • Brand and marketing campaigns
  • Website and UX content design
  • Content-driven platforms and digital experiences
  • Educational and informational materials
  • Multi-channel marketing assets

This work demonstrates my ability to lead content-driven design projects from concept to completion, making it directly applicable to businesses looking for strategic, organized, and audience-focused design solutions.

Testimonial:

Crystal designs my magazine and I love her! My customers rave about how beautiful and professional it is and can’t wait for the next issue. I know the content is good, too, but it’s the design that they talk about. Not only is she talented, but Crystal is also easy to work with, meets deadlines early and is a great communicator. I hope she always will work for me!
