Project Overview
This project represents the first issue of Torah Sisters Magazine that I designed, marking the beginning of my work in content-driven publication design and editorial layout development.
As Creative Director, I led the visual direction and layout of a multi-page magazine focused on faith-based lifestyle content, practical living, and community connection for women who love Yeshua. The publication includes a wide range of content such as articles, recipes, DIY projects, and spiritually encouraging topics designed to support everyday life.
While this was my first magazine design, it established the foundation for the content organization, editorial structure, and reader-focused design principles that continued to evolve and strengthen in future issues.
My Role
Creative Direction & Graphic Design
- Led the visual direction and layout development for the publication
- Organized multi-author content into a cohesive editorial format
- Designed page layouts for articles, lifestyle content, and resource sections
- Maintained brand consistency across all pages
- Developed typography and layout structures to support readability
- Prepared files for print-ready production
Design Approach
This project required building a foundational design approach from the ground up. The goal was to take a wide variety of content and organize it into a clear, readable, and engaging format that readers could easily navigate and apply in real life.
Key design considerations included:
- Creating early layout structures to support multiple content types
- Balancing practical, instructional, and inspirational content
- Establishing readability through typography, spacing, and layout consistency
- Supporting content focused on everyday life, faith, and community
- Organizing content to guide readers clearly through diverse topics

Results & Value
The final publication delivers a clear and approachable reader experience that supports both inspiration and practical application. By organizing diverse content into a structured format, the magazine becomes accessible and useful for readers engaging with a variety of everyday topics.
This project laid the groundwork for developing more advanced editorial systems, content strategies, and user-focused design approaches in future issues.
Growth & Evolution
Since this first issue, my work has evolved significantly in areas such as content strategy, user experience (UX), editorial systems, and scalable design frameworks. Later issues reflect more advanced structure, deeper content strategy, and refined user-focused design.
This project represents the starting point of that progression and demonstrates the foundation of my ability to transform complex, multi-topic content into clear and usable experiences.
Future Application of This Work
The principles developed in this project continue to apply to a wide range of modern design needs, including:
- Brand and marketing campaigns
- Website and UX content design
- Content strategy and digital platforms
- Educational and informational materials
- Audience-focused content systems
This work reflects my ability to take real-world content and organize it into structured, engaging, and practical experiences that support both understanding and application.
Testimonial:
Crystal designs my magazine and I love her! My customers rave about how beautiful and professional it is and can’t wait for the next issue. I know the content is good, too, but it’s the design that they talk about. Not only is she talented, but Crystal is also easy to work with, meets deadlines early and is a great communicator. I hope she always will work for me!
