Project Overview

As Creative Director for Torah Sisters Magazine, Issue 5 (Early 2022), I led the visual direction and editorial design of a multi-page publication focused on faith-based lifestyle content, practical living, and community connection for women who love Yeshua.

This issue represents the early development of a content-driven publication designed to support real-life application. It includes a wide range of topics such as lifestyle articles, recipes, DIY projects, and spiritually encouraging content, all structured to provide both inspiration and practical value for everyday life.

My Role

Creative Direction & Graphic Design

  • Led the visual direction and layout development for the publication
  • Organized multi-author content into a cohesive editorial format
  • Designed page layouts for articles, lifestyle content, and resource sections
  • Maintained brand consistency across all pages
  • Developed typography and layout structures to support readability
  • Prepared files for print-ready production

Design Approach

This issue required a foundational and flexible design approach to support a wide range of content types. The goal was to create a clear and approachable reading experience that could handle diverse topics while maintaining consistency and usability.

Key design considerations included:

  • Creating structured layouts to support multiple content formats
  • Balancing practical and inspirational content within a unified design system
  • Enhancing readability through typography, spacing, and layout consistency
  • Supporting content focused on everyday life, faith, and community
  • Organizing content to guide readers through diverse topics clearly

Key Strengths Demonstrated

This project highlights early-stage capabilities that formed the foundation for more advanced work in later issues, including:

Results & Value

The final publication delivers a cohesive and approachable reader experience that supports both inspiration and practical application. By organizing diverse content into a clear and structured format, the magazine becomes accessible and useful for readers navigating a variety of everyday topics.

This early work established the foundation for developing more advanced editorial systems, content strategies, and user-focused design approaches in later issues.

Future Application of This Work

This project demonstrates the beginning of my ability to design content-driven experiences that prioritize clarity, usability, and engagement. These same principles apply to a wide range of modern design needs, including:

  • Brand and marketing campaigns
  • Website and UX content design
  • Content strategy and digital platforms
  • Educational and informational materials
  • Audience-focused content systems

This work reflects my ability to transform diverse content into structured, engaging, and usable experiences that support both understanding and real-world application.

Testimonial:

Crystal designs my magazine and I love her! My customers rave about how beautiful and professional it is and can’t wait for the next issue. I know the content is good, too, but it’s the design that they talk about. Not only is she talented, but Crystal is also easy to work with, meets deadlines early and is a great communicator. I hope she always will work for me!
