Project Overview

As Creative Director for Torah Sisters Magazine, Issue 2 (Early 2022), I led the visual direction and editorial design of a multi-page publication focused on faith-based lifestyle content, practical living, and community connection for women who love Yeshua.

This issue represents one of the earliest stages of developing a structured, content-driven publication. It includes a variety of content such as lifestyle articles, recipes, DIY projects, and spiritually encouraging topics, all designed to provide both inspiration and practical value for everyday life.

My Role

Creative Direction & Graphic Design

  • Led the visual direction and layout development for the publication
  • Organized multi-author content into an early-stage editorial structure
  • Designed page layouts for articles, lifestyle content, and resource sections
  • Maintained brand consistency across all pages
  • Developed typography and layout structures to support readability
  • Prepared files for print-ready production

Design Approach

This issue required a foundational design approach focused on organizing diverse content into a clear and approachable format. The goal was to create a reading experience that supports both inspiration and practical usability while beginning to establish consistency across content types.

Key design considerations included:

  • Creating early layout structures to support multiple content formats
  • Balancing practical and inspirational content within a cohesive experience
  • Enhancing readability through typography and spacing
  • Supporting content focused on everyday life, faith, and community
  • Organizing content to guide readers through diverse topics clearly

Key Strengths Demonstrated

This project highlights foundational capabilities that were further developed in later issues, including:

  • Creative Direction for content-driven publications
  • Editorial design and layout development
  • Content organization and information hierarchy
  • Visual storytelling and brand consistency
  • Reader experience and usability-focused design
  • Multi-contributor content integration
  • Print design and production-ready layouts

Results & Value

The final publication delivers a clear and approachable reader experience that supports both inspiration and practical application. By organizing diverse content into a structured format, the magazine becomes accessible and useful for readers engaging with a variety of everyday topics.

This work represents an early stage in developing structured editorial systems that continued to evolve into more advanced content strategies in later issues.

Future Application of This Work

This project demonstrates the beginning of my ability to design content-driven experiences that prioritize clarity, usability, and engagement. These same principles apply to a wide range of modern design needs, including:

  • Brand and marketing campaigns
  • Website and UX content design
  • Content strategy and digital platforms
  • Educational and informational materials
  • Audience-focused content systems

This work reflects my ability to transform diverse content into structured, engaging, and usable experiences that support both understanding and real-world application.

Testimonial:

Crystal designs my magazine and I love her! My customers rave about how beautiful and professional it is and can’t wait for the next issue. I know the content is good, too, but it’s the design that they talk about. Not only is she talented, but Crystal is also easy to work with, meets deadlines early and is a great communicator. I hope she always will work for me!
